When I was outside for a smoke this morning at 3a, a double amputee in a wheelchair bummed a cigarette from me and thanked me for being outside because he lives in the barracks and "everyone's in their rooms". He was getting off meds, but the pain is constant and keeps him awake. So he'd taken three or four Ambien and was downing Red Bulls. I told him I thought that may be part of the problem, but he says the withdrawal from RB is even worse than the narcotics.
He was so sleepy that he nearly fell out of his chair twice.
He rolled off into the night, but I'm worried about him. He is alone and hurting very much.
