Roadster

Today I went for a drive. Really. Outside the gates of Walter Reed. I did the block (it was a big block) twice. I can do this. And its such a great feeling, mostly because I know driving will bring me independence. Even though I haven't owned a car since I was 23 I know I will need to get one if I'm to live in DC. Part of my therapy will involve a trip to a car dealership where I will look for one to lease.

You can bomb me to kingdom come but I still don't like to own too many things. They tie you down and all...and I think I just may fly again.

This is best news I've heard in a long time. "Independence" and "flying again" are just who you are.

Independence is everything. You can travel light and still be independent.

I love driving. And I remember the first time my sister sat behind the wheel of our old family Ford after a devastating car accident. With tears and with courage, she drove up and down the driveway, and then .. . down the country lane. She now loves to drive, especially her old BMW convertible. Travel lightly, but travel well. That's my motto!
