Write the story, dammitt

So many people here have been curious as to whether I'm writing about my adventures. Or more specifically, they've been worried I'm writing about them. I tell them I'm trying to find my voice and have no idea what I'm writing. But I am writing at the encouragement of one person in particular, a Pentagon correspondent who I admire very much. He told me it doesn't matter what I write...just do it.

I met one soldier today in the prosthetic lab. He, too, told me to write and said he believed no one could tell their story better than a journalist actually living and suffering with them. Then we got our new legs and said goodbye.

Yes, dammit, keep writing! First, you're good at it (I'm an editor, so I know whereof I speak). Second, if I hadn't stumbled upon your blog, I would not have known about Wiis for Warriors or the lack of bottled water at the MATC. Nor would I have been whacked on the head with the realities of what our troops (and the journalists who report on them) are going through in Iraq and Afghanistan. Finally, you enjoy it,so do it!

Write. It's good of you and it's good for us your readers. When you share, the load is lighter for all of us. You are giving us someONE to care about not just a number.
