Inspiration from within

I showed up at the MATC today, ready to work. I saw a Marine. A big, beefy Marine who always gives me shit about being in my wheelchair. He told me to drop the canes and walk. So we did. Round the MATC, lap one, two, three. He made me walk on little taped squares in the floor. Then without even his arm to hold on to. Then we walked on spongy things, then we lifted weights together. He with his 50 pound weights. Me with my 8 pounders.

The physical therapists watched us. The occupational therapists commented from the floor below us that I had a new dance partner.

I worked out like a Marine.

That is awesome! Maybe the light at the end of the tunnel isn't always the train after all.

Damn, I don't even know you but that makes me happy. When you put a smile on an old mans face you have power.
