Go on, stick me

Obviously the acupuncture isn't working. My ears are ringed with tiny golden studs. One fell off last night as I was sleeping. But the docs say to expect that. My doc also commented on what a "good patient" I am, sitting so still as he stapled those little bastards into my ears. Think of getting your ears pierced through the cartilage. Hurts a wee bit but nothing compared to getting yourself blown up.

My withdrawal hasn't improved much. The phantom pain in my amputated leg is kicking my ass. I just went to the pharmacy and waited an hour for a higher dose of Lyrica. It's a non-narcotic drug that helps relieve nerve pain. The pharmacy is only slightly less painful then the acupuncture. Old people crashing into you with their wheelchairs, babies screaming, etc.

I talked to a soldier this morning who is hooked on Methadone. He also happened to be stoned out of his mind on Percocet. He couldn't keep his eyes open. I was afraid he was going to fall over on me. He's been here for five years.

I did get some good news this morning! The docs and the therapists say I am ready for my carbon fiber socket. Lighter, more flexible and horrifyingly expensive...you only get it when you quit shrinking, which I have. Better days are ahead.

Great. Soon you will be up and moving around better with your new socket.. I know kicking methadone has been awful.... but better that than bring hooked on it for years.
