Wednesday in Baghdad

All has been quiet since 4 a.m. The battles of Haifa Street stopped overnight or at least the constant noise from the gun battles, tank fire and warplanes died down. We had several large explosions again last night, as well as a few AK47 rounds that sounded as if they were being fired from our own compound.

Maybe the guards are nervous.

The battles yesterday lasted from 7 a.m. through most of the night. At times it sounded like the warplanes were buzzing our compound. The explosions shook my room. The military now says more than 1,000 Iraqi and American soldiers took part. It will be interesting to see, in the coming days or weeks, what resulted from it.
