One of our Iraqi security guys was a soldier in Saddam's Republican Guard.
I know this because as he arrived in our kitchen this morning to make a cup of tea, one of our British security guards, who is a former Special Forces soldier, stood up and saluted him.
The Iraqi returned the salute.
I asked the British guard what it was all about and he said when he'd arrived with his unit in Basra during the invasion he had fought this Iraqi there.
Now they salute one another every time they meet.
