Turgen Mountain, the one in this photo capped in snow (click on the picture to enlarge), is very difficult to reach. We failed for a number of reasons. The melting snow had flooded the river which made it impossible to cross in spots (though we tried). A sudden storm kicked up winds of 40 mph and higher as we climbed the surrounding mountains on horseback. The winds forced us to turn around and head back down in to the Valley, an even more terrifying experience than the trip up. When we returned to camp, our tents had blown away. It was a memorable day. The photos below are of the horsemen we hired to help us reach the summit.
