There is something about these photos that chills me to the core. I can't quite put my finger on it. I stumbled across this scene as I was driving in lower Plaquemines, which lost two of its three high schools to Katrina. There was a dispute over re-building one of them and it grew ugly. Last week, someone torched what remained of it. That settled the issue once and for all. I asked a local councilman about this scene and he said they realized too late that Katrina was aiming for them. They were unable to get these buses out. The area also lost fire trucks, ambulances and other emergency vehicles.
