Into the Wild--Eastern Afghanistan

Our very cold staging point, where we spent the night in humvees. It was 15 below zero.

Oh, and the geese

I'm leaving the coast and heading to the Cascade Mountains

Even the locals admit I've been lucky with the weather. Only one big storm since I began the drive a week ago. Some days it has been rainy, but it never lasted for long, and the fog always burned off for beautiful, sunny afternoons. I know I'm lucky. But I couldn't have imagined my last evening in Port Orford would include a rainbow! I was looking through photos and glanced out my window....

The rainbow was then followed by a beautiful, pink sunset.
